if any of us forgot just how thick the average jehovah's witness can be, here's a little story.. my friend, a 28 year old jw, got into an accident about a year ago.
she hit a horse and killed it, wrecking her car.
she told everyone she knew that it was pitch black and she couldn't see the horse until the last second.
Sounds like someone need to check and see if her bible contains a hidden flask.
another post gives the stats that about 20 bethels have closed over the last 2 years.
lets assume that this continues at half the rate in another 10 years there will be few or a dozen bethels left.
if theres no bethel in spain, portugal, france, italy and they all go thru germany what chance does that give jws in those lands to ever get a chance at the big bethel in germany ?
Easy! Groom, groom, groom and regurgitate, regurgitate, regurgitate.
They will just groom new GB members and continue to regurgitate the same garbage they've been spewing for over 130 years now except they'll have one nerd put a new spin on something once in awhile and say the shight is getting brighter; the rest can done by computers and a few techies.
besides the obvious fact that it is historically ridiculous - can anybody make any sense out of this story?.
god was somehow afraid that man was developing too much technology?
just because they were building a tower?.
As a small child I always thought that God must have had a reason. Then I got a little older and thought huh, that tower thing would have been impossible so why stop them; wouldn't letting them try and fail be more of a lesson than what god did? Then I got a little older yet and wiser too and realized it's bullshit!
i have been out of the jw organization for some time now and have been fairly active in discussing my adventures in watchtower with those who are interested.
what really surprised me in the first few years after leaving was how little the "world" knew about jw's.
we were taught that we have been warning the unwashed for 100+ years and they resist the message because satan keeps them from grasping this "good news".. in the many discussions i have had with these folks since leaving, it is amazing how little or no understanding about jw's beyond the blood issue and holidays they have.
Not really, being a born-in who wishes they were out, when talking to people I never bring up I'm a dub so when witlesses come up in conversation (not very often but they do) I find the vast majority of people know little to nothing about them despite their never-ending "preaching work".
you can cut & paste all the excerpts from articles you want...you can leak all the boe letters, you can pretend to be witnesses and come to the conventions and meetings...but.
no other organization can begin to rival the success and magnitude of the prophecy found in mt 24:14. so apostates....don't waste your time spending countless hours digging up articles and reading books to convince yourself to turn away from jh's organization.
no matter what "evidence" you find you cannot ignore the obvious fulfillment of matthew 24:14.. .
nananana it seems to me that you were on here just about a month back complaining about all of our attitudes toward the WTBT$ cult and you were going to run back with your tail tucked between your legs, so why are you still here? If the borganization is all you crack it up to be then you wouldn't still be here now would you?
i have a friend, who is compiling information.
he is not a jw, but wife is.
looking for words, phrases, ideologies that jws live and die by that are wt teachings, but not scriptural.
That somehow the bible is beneficial for all and yet only applicable for a few.
Example: We're supposed to follow ALL the scriptures but when they don't neatly fit into wash-towel doctrine for the R&F they are now magically applicable to the anointed only; abracadabra presto-chango conflict solved.
i have to admit, i have made it a bit of a habit in the last few weeks to find myself in the local starbucks right about the time that i know the service groups will be stopping for a "quick" break, which usually goes on for about 30 minutes.. as i am not da or df, i make a note to say good morning to them and show them how nice and relaxed i am sitting, slowly enjoying my coffee.
i even make a point to invite them to sit down with me, knowing that it will eat up a bit more of their time.
never a "theocratic" discussion, only about local happenings usually, talking about workouts (i am normally in gym clothes since i was either at the gym or going to the gym after coffee), or just discussing plans for the weekend.
Good for you.
I wonder how many of them are jealous of you and the fact that, while they're out doing pointless busy work, you're relaxing and actually enjoying a Saturday morning.
if i don't think for myself, to what extent am i culpable in going along with and supporting the agenda of an evil and insane propagandist (someone who manipulates and distorts information so as to manipulate people and distort society)?.
No answer is still an answer, so when you don't think for yourself and/or speak up you're supporting them in your silence and giving away your right to power, masculinity and safety.
dear brothers and sisters.
are there any families in your home congregation doing it tough?
please consider carefully if your resources may be more needed locally than in brooklyn, new york.. .
How long ago was this?
Growing up I remember the lenience on not donating every dime to mother and instead considering your local friends first, but now I have a hard time imagining them promoting something like this.
